Computer Help Desk on Two Continents

After we finished our bike ride yesterday (Tuesday), we spent a couple of hours troubleshooting and resolving computer problems back at our workplace in Boston. We had been informed that the ultrasound reporting system in our department that we manage was malfunctioning, so we dealt with the issue over the phone and by taking control of a work computer via remote access software.

Today, after a splendid ride through Finnish farmland, we arrived at our accommodations and did the first thing we always do when we reach our destination: connect our phones and computers to the internet. We were dismayed when our devices were unable to connect. Suspecting that the problem lay with the lodge's wireless modem, Peter went hunting through the building for the modem. He found it and reset it, thereby fixing the building's wireless connectivity problem. This allowed us to do our daily online tasks: catch up with email, learn about what's going on in the news (including checking up on the Boston Red Sox), and posting this entry on our blog.
